Game creation: How games like LoL and HoN were made and where to start?

Hey I was just wondering if anyone could give me a link to some beginner guides for this type of game creation. What is the easiest way to do it? I'd like if there was some kind of free program to help you build it so I can learn and perfect the actual mechanics of moba, while I learn how to do more advanced things like LoL. Any help is appreciated! :)
